Question: I need major help. please. im so worried. urgent?
okay so my boyfriend just told me he hasnt been sleeping because hes been really scared. hes been seeing things and i guess u could say hallucinating. he sees them everywhere and tonight he was over and i could just tell he was terrified. he said he was also scared of me. he said its hard for him to tell the difference between whats real and what isnt. hes talked about how he thinks his house is haunted before but its never really been like this. he says that the way the things he sees look at him hes so scared he says they want him to die. he says hes really cold and blankets dont help. he says it started this week. and he hasnt slept much in a few weeks. im so beyond worried and i just need some advice as to what could possibly be going on and how i can help.

Only a psychiatrist or psychologist who evaluates your boyfriend is qualified to say what is up with him.

From what you describe, he's in a very bad way, I think, and needs to see a doctor pronto. Call the local hospital and ask to speak with the psychiatrist on call. If he's too freaked out to speak to the doctor himself, then you'll have to do the talking for him. Describe the symptoms he's having and ask the psychiatrist what should be done. If one hospital is no help, then try calling another.

If you are unable to get a psychiatrist to talk to you and your boyfriend, take him to the emergency room.

If you are unable to get any help tonight, call around tomorrow for walk-in clinics that are open in your city and get him seen by a doctor. The doctor can make a preliminary diagnosis and set him up with a psychiatrist.

Good luck and take care. I'm glad your boyfriend has someone who cares about him.

Lack of sleep can cause some pretty scarey things like that. Also, does he use any drugs--even prescription or over the counter? He may be having a bad reaction. If no to that, then have him check with his doc. If he does have a physical or mental problem, it probably is not one that you can fix and he would be better off the sooner he gets professional help. They can probably give him something to ease the difficulty.

Sounds like a sleeping disorder. Please search some up for him. I've experienced similar symptoms.

no matter what it is you should push for him to talk to a doctor about it

If your boyfriend is a minor, then you should urge him to tell his parents what is happening to him. If he is an adult, he should be encouraged to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Having hallucinations is very frightening and could be very dangerous. He has stated he is having trouble telling the difference between reality and the hallucinations. He is also feeling paranoid, which is also a very frightening symptom.

Lack of sleep can cause hallucinations, drugs can cause hallucinations, mental illness. and medical illnesses can cause hallucinations. The sooner he seeks help, the better. If he gets more paranoid, it will be impossible to convince him that his reality is not true. I read the other answers and yes, you or his parents may need to call 911, because he is becoming dangerous to himself and while hallucinating may misinterpret intentions and be a danger to others as well.

Your concerns are valid. Mental illness issues are very difficult to cope with. He can only get well if the reasons for his hallucinations and paranoia are investigated and treated.

RN

Perhaps he suffers from schizophrenia. Ask if there is a history of mental illness in his family, since there are known genetic links for schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia can cause a number of different symptoms, including (but not limited to)-
Hallucinations
Catatonia
Incomprehensable speech
Absurd association within reasoning

Drug use can cause hallucinations as well. Ask him if he has knowingly taking any drugs (illegal or medication) with in the past few days.
Even if he says no to this

CALL 911! Right now! Call the doctor! Get him to a hospital as soon as possible so medical treatment will be availabel.
