Quitting Prozac after 2nd day?!

Question: Quitting Prozac after 2nd day?
it's been 2 days after I started on Prozac, 10 mg. it's a low dose, but I feel really emotionless. Just really flat. I can't cry unless I really think hard about something sad. I used to feel emotion so well, and now just nothing. Would it be ok do you think to just stop it all together and try therapy alone instead of an antidepressant? First time ever on one. Thanks. I kind of want my old self back, the one I had 3 days ago. =/

I know I am not a professional but I totally agree with ditching the meds and just going for the therapy. With some of them all they do is make you numb and its awwwwful. Like you, I would rather feel hurt than feel nothing. My mom is the same, shes been on antidepressants for years and she just cant cry about anything. The doctor prescribed me anti depressants and I agreed but then got home and flushed them all down the toilet lol Dont get medication. In my opinion, medication doesnt solve the problem, it only blocks it. Like my Mom, take her tablets away from her and she is an absolute wreck because shes got so used to being numb from all the pills, she just cant cope with feeling strong emotions anymore. Dont get yourself like that, it is horrible. Just try therapy.

You should definitely talk with your dr before stopping any med but sometimes it's good to keep going on meds. Usually the first few days are adjustment phases in which your body gets used to the med. Changes in emotion are common (I used to go crazy on Lamictal) but it's normal.

Since it's your first time one one, you should def talk to your doc. And therapy would be helpful in addition to meds. :)

Uh...No. Whoever gave you the prescription hasn't been able to even make a preliminary assessment. You don't take even low doses of an antidepressant for two days and quit, unless you are having a negative reaction to the drug. Why have started? No, PLEASE don't make casual decisions about these medications. They have proven deadly.

Prozac doesn't take full effect until a month after the first dose. But if you already don't like it, tell your therapist. There are 1000 different antidepressants, one will work for you. Prozac is pretty heavy duty, I'm shocked it was the first pill he prescribed. Lots of people feel that emotionless feeling on Prozac. Ask him for something more mild, like Wellbutrin.

I think it would be preferable. However, you might try taking just half your dose and see how that works. Generally, it's best to at least call the physician and make sure stopping your medication won't hurt you. Some meds need to be withdrawn slowly. Probably not yours since you just started it, but it wouldn't hurt to check.
