plzzz, help how can i stop cutting?!

Question: Plzzz, help how can i stop cutting?
i need advice on how to stop cutting, i try not to take any razors to skool with me but then i get sooo depressed and i turn to cutting so i use a staple from a stapler at skool and i open it up so that it up straight then i put my arm under the table and start cutting myself with it, so that the ppl in my group wont see me doing this. i find the stable being a bit hard for me cuzz it takes many strong strokes to finally cut me and make my arm bleed, sometimes alot of blood comes out and i pull down my sweater to get up and get a tissue, but when i threw it away there is always that one person that see the blood, and it scares them. so i really want to stop any advice?

I'm sorry that you're having such a difficult time. Those who cut or harm themselves are trying to numb their emotional pain. Most need outside professional help such as from a licensed counselor to find other more positive and productive ways to handle their emotions.

In addition to infections from the stapler and other objects, the person who is cutting or harming themselves might end up with permanent nerve damage which can be very painful and cause numbness and/or muscle damage.

This site has some tips on helping to stop self-harming, but please realize that it's not in place of talking with a licensed mental health professional: http://www.helpguide.org/mental/self_inj…

Get a psychiatrist. Make sure they solve your entire problem, and don't just swag it around like it's not a problem, because it is a problem. Cutting addiction is like any other addiction. You just can't stop doing. When your at school, and get the urge to cut; try this. Instead of cutting yourself, just write compliments on your arm. Like "Cute", or "Awesome". You should Join a swimming team/class, or join a writing class, an art class, maybe a dancing class, or even a simple cooking class. It will fill your mind up with happy things. Also, try new hobbies. Like try collecting things, or reading. Another thing is to quit playing games that have any type of violence/blood. I wish the very best for you. Hope this helps.

Best way to stop is ask for help and find support. You can get support from friends, family, counselors, anybody. They even have online support groups for cutters and EDed people now. It is difficult to stop because it's like an addiction but with time and support, you can overcome it. The hardest part is to begin the healing process in the first place.

Good luck and Email me at llmatthews1029@hotmail.com if you would like to talk about anything and everything or if you need support.

Good luck and be strong!
