Should I seek help for Love Addiction?!

Question: Should I seek help for Love Addiction?
I'm in my 30's and on two hands can count the number of times I've become infatuated with a girl. I always thought I was just unlucky in love. 10 years ago In college I was infatuated with some girl I dated for about 2 weeks. It took about 5 months to get over that. Then last year I fell into infatuation again...with a coworker. I never dated her or even asked her out. I just had this terrible crush that wouldn't go away. Its been 8 months now since I broke all contact with her and I'm still not over It. But I am starting to see a pattern that lines up with Love addiction. I consider myself a Hopeless Romantic. My attraction is always more emotional then physical. These girls I become infatuated with seem to be kinda loser types and are completely unfit for me, but during the course of infatuation its hard to see why. I always find, I give them way more attention then they deserve and I get frustrated when that attention is not returned.

The thing that confuses me about love addiction is that it usually talks about people in a relationship and I'm never in a legitimate relationship with these girls. So is this the help I should be seeking?

Also like AA groups, I don't understand why some support groups have to talk about god in there meeting. I'm not a religious person and want to try going to one of these meetings, but I don't want it to be about some BS about god. Do you think these meetings exist without the religious mumbo jumbo?

In all honesty I believe you need one-on-one therapy as opposed to a support group.

If you do want do try an addiction support group, there are numerous ones that are not based on a faith-healing platform. Look into SMART Recovery, LifeRing or SOS.

All 12 Step programs are based on a higher power, whatever you choose it to be.
Most people make God their higher power.
many people who do not believe in God, make the group itself their 'higher power'.
