Whats the difference between severe depression and bipolar disorder?!

Question: Whats the difference between severe depression and bipolar disorder?
Answers:

Bipolar disorder is at each end of the emotional scales... either on a massive high with life then on a severe low, sometimes within minutes of each other but usually not as extreme as that. (Stephen Fry is a famous Bipolar sufferer and Eastenders on UK TV recently ran a story line about the effects)

Depression is usually on a permanent low, but he sufferer will usually suffer in silence whilst projecting an outgoing personality...even being described as the life and soul of a party. Suicidal or self harm thoughts are often presented with cases of depression.

Both are mental illnesses that have to do with a chemical defiency in the brain. But each has their own brain chemical that is out of therapeutic range.

Depression has definite signs and symptoms including hopelessness, worthlessness, suicidal feelings, inability to enjoy anything, poor concentration, and many other things.
BiPolar disorder has SIX varying categories--and depending on which one the signs and symptoms vary.
Some are BiPolar depressed.
Some are BiPolar Manic. Some are Bipolar Mixed
I would google each one to get a full understanding of exactly what each is.

Bipolar disorder is when you have months where you are basically depressed and disinterested in life, and then you have months where you are hyper, full of energy.

Severe depression is the same apart from the hyper months, which people suffering from severe depression don't get.

severe depression can be cured and may be caused by a stressful life etc. bipolar disorder can not cured, only controlled and is believed to be hereditary.

Bi polar is a two way thing. Depression is just down & down & up a bit & down ....

you should go to doctors immediately.

severe dep doesn't have the "up"
