How can I fix this problem on confidence/anxiety?!

Question: How can I fix this problem on confidence/anxiety?
I'm only 22 years old I guess I'm not that involved in things because fear of failure and rejection and I have anxiety but it only happens in certain situations like getting a job speaking in front of a class or playing in my bball games. As well as having a girlfriend. Most of the time I feel ok after the gym but thats all I know. I guess Im afraid of failure embarrassment but also get panicky physically and mentally drains you feeling sucks and there real symptoms.

I dont want to take paxil or zoloft everyday and even if I did it would be short term because I never ever get addicted to anything! I tried adderall with a Dr's prescription and it was cool because i took it in low doses as needed when I would study or have a speech in class or a bball game. The thing is it gives you headaches and a feeling that you are only looking straight you cant multitask it felt my mind couldnt feel anything else i would focus on 1 direction and couldnt see the others.

I know I need to work on me guys but when can i take for the short term as needed that will help with the panicky anxiety feeling and just make me chill and relaxed yet focused not sleepy. WEED? A DRINK or 2? Someone told me taking Xanax really helped in low dosages as needed short term. I just want to be able to beat this its the worst.

Answers:

This sounds like a bit of anxiety issues. Paxil or Zoloft (and such) would likely be quite useless as they are more fore depression and do a poor job at even doing that. As you said, Xanax (or similar benzodiazepine) in low doses could do wonders for you.

The problem is that benzo's are a scheduled substance so doctors would much rather make you think an anti-depressant will help because they are unscheduled. In your case they would work great for your occasional (but significant) anxiety, except during bball, as they are depressants.

As far as alcohol goes, I'd bet a drink or 2 would help, and probably weed too, though I wouldn't know.
