Am I depressed or is it just a phase?!

Question: Am I depressed or is it just a phase?
I'm 19 years old. I have a feeling of being completely hopeless and sad pretty much all the time. I never really feel like going out or doing anything, and when I do I always feel out of place and lost.

I used do before like playing computer games, watching tv and messing on the guitar seem to hold no interest now. Only thing I can seem to stomach is reading.

I can't seem to sleep at night, and find it very hard to get out of bed the next morning for college. I've pretty much lost the will to do anything. I'm not suicidal, nor have I ever been, but I still feel worthless.

I've never really had a girlfriend, or a lot of friends for that matter, and have never really felt this bad before. I have no major tests or projects or anything like that coming up, so I know that it has nothing to do with stress or anxiety.

Am I suffering from depression?? Or is it simple something else??

It depends on how long it lasts.
If it has been a while you should see a doctor. I have depression that has lasted for months on end and itsn't getting better and I'm on medication. I also see a counselor which helps.

Please help me with my question!

You sound like you could be depressed, yes. Losing interest in things you normally enjoy doing, insomnia, feeling sad all the time - all these things are common symptoms of depression. I suggest that you go and see your doctor and talk to them about it. They may be able to offer you some medication to help you out or possibly some counselling if you think that may help.
Hope that helps and good luck :)

Will you please go and see a doctor right away? I don't mean to be pushy or to scare you but I know depression & you definitely are depressed. Please don't put it off? I myself have been fighting depression all my life & my 17 year old son has died from depression. A doctor will be able to help you deal & live with it. I Care, Joy

diet can make you feel that way.
What color is your urine? it should be clear. No color at all. concentrated urine makes you feel depressed. you could be drinking not enough water and too much caffeine.

Food can make you feel that way. stop eating cheese and see if that helps.
constipation make a person feel that way also.

not meeting your personal goals can make you feel that way. It could be that you did not have realistic expectations for something and made too hard of a goal.

What I think is that your coming of age in this economy is depressing. Not as much hope as for others in the past.

Since we are now living in such an isolated society where people are starting to mostly meet others online I imagine that there is a heck of alot of depressed people.

Your doing good reaching out online. Keep at it. sign up for penpals etc. Your doing good.

PS Lack of exercise causes feelings of depression. Exercise can cause euphoria... so simply getting more fun exercise might help. If you were to go to the YMCA regularly you would meet people and get exercise!
