Is it normal to be afraid to walk the streets alone at night or am I being paran!

Question: Is it normal to be afraid to walk the streets alone at night or am I being paranoid?
I'm 19 years old. After I ate dinner at Burger King, I walked home alone in the dark. I walked the main roads. At every noise, I would look around at my surroundings. I would walk quickly even if it meant stumbling in the snow. Is it normal to be afraid to walk the streets alone at night or am I being paranoid? I live in what they consider a city. To me it's more like a town.

Answers:

It's perfectly normal ! I'm scared to walk down my neighborhood at night sometimes, young girls walking down the street at night alone, there's a good reason to be scared because
1. Your by yourself
2. There are rapists and other creep out there hoping to find young people walking alone
& 3 , You may not be used to walking alone in the dark, it can be scary , your not paranoid,
If your alone, stay on the sidewalks make sure there's lots of cars and people, some place very open, and avoid dark, empty places, like alleys and unfamilliar neighborhoods.
Hope I helped you more than I freaked you out !

The news has made people more paranoid than they should be, but yes, it is normal. It's normal because MOST peopel are paranoid to walk alone liek that, even guys.

However, if you neevr hear about muggings, rapes, and people getting beat up at night, then you wouldn't be worried. Go figure.

You are not being paranoid. It is instinctual to turn and look at noises in the dark. It is a leftover from our original survival instinct. And please try not to walk alone at night, have a friend walk with you.

these days its not paranoid at all to be afraid to walk alone at night. its crazy the things that you see on the news about what happens to people alone and just imagine all the things that never make it on the news.

I think it's normal. It's hard to see in the dark and not many people are out at that time so it makes you an easy target. Whenever I'm out alone at night I can't stop looking behind my back.

IT ISNT SAFE TO GO OUT ALONE NOT THESE DAYS ANYWAY THEIR IS A LOAD OF SICK WEIRDOS OUT THEIR SO YOU CARRY ON.BEING PARANOID

You should be alert and wary. Nothing wrong with that.

Yes it's normal

yeah its normal dont worry about it:)
