Answers:

It has absolutely become "trendy" to be depressed. everyone is always complaining and talking about how much they hate their life and all that. I think as the media started to give depression more attention, people thought any slight problem they encountered in life that upset them, caused depression. Also, it has to do with some people just wanting to play the victim. So many people all across the world are actually dealing with very difficult things and yet you have people making a mountain out of a molehill. Rather than growing up and dealing with life they want other people to feel sorry for them and solve their problems.
I'm not trying to bash people who are actually depressed and dealing with horrible things. I just wish others wouldn't unnecessarily negate what depression is actually about and disrespect people who are truly battling it.

Then who did you get the idea of cutting to alleviate depression from? Typical emo behavior, just like when they insult a band's fans once they go maisntream by always saying "We found them first!" lol... Watch the Goth kids on south park, it is the best satire of it... "To be a nonconformist you just have to dress and act like we do" hahaha

My opinion is that all these wimps need to grow up because there is always someone having it harder... Just because you are sad doesn't mean your life sucks, grow up and overcome, we all have problems

Some people really do it for no reason. At some schools its a fad for awhile but I know that there are real people with issues. We just need to know who the real people are.

your were way ahead of your time

Don't worry, just because more people do it doesn't mean that it is no longer a mental disease.

pffft, cutting yourself is so mainstream.

now?
emo was 2005.
now its just a posing act.
