How does the drug Valium work?!

Question: How does the drug Valium work?
I don't think what I'm taking right now (Celexa) is helping, so I thought of taking something stronger for my anxiety and I heard that Valium works that way, is that true?

Answers:

I believe Celexa is an anti-depressant that helps with anxiety. My Psychiatrist wanted me to try it, but I stuck with Lexapro (same deal).

Valium would pretty much make your mind numb. Although I've only taken it when I was in total outrageous pain from a herniated disc and they were trying to get a good MRI of my lower lumbar (didn't work).

What I take for anxiety is Klonapin (generic = Clonozopam)

But you can't go off the Celexa just like that, you need to slowly go off of it while you're weaning onto an anti-anxiety if you're diagnosed with anxiety disorder.

Another really good one (that can only be taken at night because it helps immensely with sleep) and is cheap, is Trazodone. It is an antidepressant that totally helps with sleep. I am grateful for this one as I cannot sleep otherwise (I take Klonapin with it as well).

Different medications work different for each person's body type, too; so what works for me may not work for you and vice-versa.

Talka to yo docta!
