Why am I so depressed?!

Question: Why am I so depressed?
I am 15 years old, and my life has been going on for how it has for many years, but I am just very depressed. I fell like there is nothing in the world to live for. I have a lot of free time an my hands, and I waste it watching tv or something. I have this weird thing that I want to be alone, and by myself. I feel like the life has been sucked out of me. I like to be alone, so when my parents call me, I get depressed and angry and show them attitude, and I know its wrong.

You need to see your family doctor, that's good place to start. A lot of what you describe is normal teenage angst which sucks, but it passes with time and age. I don't know many *happy* 15 yr olds!

But it could be more serious such as a mood disorder or a clinical depression. A doctor can help you decide which it might be. Depression often runs in families, so ask someone in your fam that you can stand to talk to if there any sufferers in your family. It's a chemical imbalance. It doesn't mean you're weak or lazy or wrong.

I will first say that the only way you will find purpose in life is to have Jesus in it. This isn't R&S but I understand depression very well and know how much God can help you with it.

But if you aren't willing to accept Jesus right now, one thing you can do is to start exercising. Did you know that exercise acts on the brain the same way that an anti-depressant does? Why don't you join a sport at school? Or start running or riding your bike?

Another thing you can do if you do not feel as if you need medical help is to take a supplement called St. John's Wort. You can get this at Walgreens or Walmart. It doesn't cost much and is a natural anti-depressant.

Finally, you are a teenager and crazy things are going on inside your body when you are a teenager. But you shouldn't feel such sorrow in your life. You deserve to be happy! You should ask yourself what you feel is missing in your life and try to fill these voids (God is the biggest void).

Getting through these feelings requires action and time. It won't go away tomorrow. Remember this. It didn't happen overnight and it won't change overnight. Talk to your parents about these feelings. That's what they are there for.

When your hormones change, they change your moods and the way you feel. Talk with your parents and tell them that you are feeling blue, because they probably felt the same way when they were your age, too.

lol yea they suck they tell u to do homework, give you tasks just be social . bcuz u dont wanna b with your parents does not mean you dont wanna b with any1

Feelings of depression can be very difficult to understand and even harder to deal with. It is great that you are reaching out for help! Boredom can be a great contributor to these types of feelings and sometimes it can really help to find some new things to do to occupy your time. Is there anything that you enjoy doing or things that you have thought about trying? Sometimes something as simple as listening to music, journaling, or exercising can help to improve your mood. If you feel that these feelings may be more than this, find a trusted adult such as a parent, pastor, or guidance counselor and let them know how you are feeling. Talking with your doctor about these feelings can also be very helpful and they may be able to help you find the right treatment to help you better deal with them.
