What do you think about this psychiatrist?!

Question: What do you think about this psychiatrist?
I read a psychological report that people who suffer Borderline Personality disorder, cannot tolerate being alone. I think they should enjoy the company of their family and friends. Why should they be alone? Another part states that they have sexual relationships. In other words, people who have sexual relationships suffer from Borderline Personality disorder?

Answers:

bpd is a very complex illness

itt does not mean that ppl who have sex in general have bpd
the way they conduct there sex lives is a part of the illness

it is not always possible to have company whether you have a mental illness or not ,again ppl with this disorder do not always like being alone, its very difficult for them to handle but families are not always around for them, sometimes due to the nature of this disorder the families/friends often abandon the person with bpd

read up on the illness on BPD.WORLD or www.mind.org.uk

best wishes
other times they have to go to work, school etc

The issue with how you are thinking is that you are thinking in general terms such as "I like being around family" or "I have sex with my significant other". People who suffer from Borderline Personality disorder usually can't deal with being by themselves, they tend to have to surround themselves with people all the time, it's not about enjoying people's company it's about not being able to deal with being alone, it's about them feeling abandoned when they are. They also can have severe sexual promiscuity and are typically very impulsive when it comes to sexual choices.

Was one semester shy of getting my Psychology degree.

I think that you are taking the meaning and missing what is being said. Many people with BPD require much attention. Thus, many of them do not like being alone. It's difficult to get attention when alone. And, many persons with BPD put themselves in risky sexual situations and relationships. They again are seeking attention, and sometimes get it in ways that can be counter to their well-being. Many women with BPD are/have been raped. It is a complicated Personality Disorder with differing levels in differing people. Not every BPD has every symptom. But, some generalizations help with looking for symptoms that may identify a person with BPD. It's not meant as an "all or none at all" type of thing.

As a practitioner I do not believe BPD exists they way THEY say it does. It's all rather strange if you ask me.
