ways to treat my sadness/depression?!

Question: Ways to treat my sadness/depression?
A couple of weeks ago, I was in terrible shape emotionally. I'll be stable one minute and in tears the next. Now, I'm much better because I alleviated some of my stress by dropping some engineering courses and taking this semester lightly.

I think part of what made me so sad was the fact that I've been here in the US for so long, and still not have a green card. My opportunities are very limited when it comes to jobs, scholarships, grad school, etc. Also, we don't have a lot of money, so I have to live with my parents for now.

Currently, I'm not really in contact with any close friends. I do participate in ultimate frisbee with my club team regularly, but that's about it. I find it hard to get out of bed, and its hard for me to focus. What are some ways to help me get back on track?

P.S. If you have no experience with things like depression, then please don't answer this question.

Answers:

Why dont you put your time into helping disabled kids or something useful like that.they are always greatful for volunteers.Go help at old folks homes.Just try and keep occupied.I suffer from depression and loo after my wife who has severe mental health.Good you have got rid of some courses.Less pressure.Hope things cheer up for you young man.Good Luck.

Get bitter. Really bitter. F**king helped me. When I was feeling sad, I didnt feel sorry for myself, I just got very bitter and had deep loathing for the people who caused it. I wasnt bullied or anything generic like that, it was just a lot of "long story" stuff.

I feel really deeply bitter towards them now. Feels good man.

I suggest you not take any advice from Sam.
