Can I get physically ill and throw up due to stress?!

Question: Can I get physically ill and throw up due to stress?
This month has been very stressful for me - I'm going to Boston on Friday for a debate competition, and I have also entered my school in the race to the top commencement challenge, and I also had a singing competition last week. I came down with an awful sinus infection on Monday, I haven't gotten my period yet (no, there's no possibility of pregnancy), and just now I threw up randomly (my stomach just randomly started hurting, and like five seconds after that happened, I threw up).

Could all my health issues be due to stress? Also, what do you recommend that I do to stop being so stressed?

Answers:

Absolutely. Too much stress really wreaks havoc on your body. It can cause all sorts of pains and problems. Make sure you're getting enough food and water, and especially make sure you get your sleep. Try drinking chamomile tea, or just taking a break with a book. If you keep feeling so bad, you may need to drop some of your activities.

I know what it's like to have singing competitions and debates all over the place, and they REALLY did bad things to me last year. I had this terrible pain in my shoulders that wouldn't go away.

If you're getting sick you definitely need rest!! Take care of yourself, eat healthy foods, and only focus on one thing at a time, for a limited amount of time. You may be stressing out, but there comes a point where you just need to stop thinking about it for a while. Good luck to you, and take it easy!

Yes, very possible.
Make sure to drink a TON of water, and eat healthy. It really does help. Try to prioritize, and make a little free time to just RELAX! I've found that having a good heart to heart with a friend really helps, too. Just think about how in just so many days, you will be done with that and it will be one less thing to worry about. It will all be okay again soon. :)

Stop thinking about the stress itself like posting a question here :)

Just focus on the competition but don't sacrifice the time for rest. Have the daily routine. And it's great to spare several minutes to think about how to celebrate if you win.

Good luck!
