I wouldn't be able to deal with it. I know myself good enough to say that I would kill myself before I would ever have to deal with being homeless. I don't know how people do it. I give them all the credit in the world, because I wouldn't last.

That's the worst case scenario, and a nightmare I wouldn't even contemplate. Maybe I could do a couple of days, if it were in the summer time. But in the winter I don't think I would last long.

Sleeping in a cardboard box, or in a shop doorway, or under a bridge, or in a derelict building, I do watch the Ray Mears survival shows, and I have a little insight of how to beg, and fish in the river for food, and eat the berries that are eatable, but just thinking about what I would do is very scary and daunting, and I'd sooner not have that situation thrust upon me.

And when I see someone who is homeless, as I pass them I often wonder just how they are coping if at all. I do have compassion for them, but I'm not in a position to really help them, a few coppers doesn't do much.

Whatever possessions you had would be carried on your back, and some survival tools, like a good machete, and multi-tooled penknife, together with plenty of matches, a flint, and grindstone. Also some eating utensils.

Unless you are a drunk or a drug addict, then there is no need to ever be homeless. If times get tough you can go down and apply for assistance and public housing before it gets too bad. If you have any friends or family then you have a chance. Even strangers may take you in if you show that you aren't crazy or an addict. So no worries. Now if you are an addict or a drunk then you may have something to worry about. But people who are addicts adapt to street life because it is what they have chosen. Personally for me, I would deal with it by hitting the streets looking for anybody who would give me a job and a room to sleep in. All you really need to survive is a bed and a place to wash. But I would go house to house if I had to asking for odd jobs, anything to keep me going. Also, I might consider talking to area churches.

I have never been homeless myself but I have had friends who where homeless. A lot of them are really nice people that are not necessarily homeless through fault of their own! It's like there own little community & I had many laughs in their company. They are more relaxed about life & are happy! Yes, it's hard but people shouldn't judge homeless people for being alcoholics & drug users but just take a minute to sit & chat, you will find they make better friends & more loyal than most of your friends who like the things you like, have a home & money. They'd be prepared to help you WHENEVER you needed it. It's like having an extended family :) I have a home, husband, pets & a bit of money but can still give a homeless person the time of day - instead of the usual 'dirty looks' they get from most other peeps!

I've many homeless 'good/loyal' friends!

SethSpeaks entire answer about there being no need to ever be homeless unless your a drunk or a drug addict is not only entirely wrong, it's also completely ignorant. No wonder when people are unlucky enough to find themselves in such a situation they find it hard to get back out again with human 'kindness' such as his flying around.

Can't imagine pretty much.
But if that happens, I would depend on what last I have, n save it for sure.
Gather around with all close relative u still hv, n make survival plan.
Its necessary 4 everyone to play their part.
Money is the first thing u must earn, as well as getting food supply.
clothes n hygiene comes later.
make sure u don't bring trouble to other members, n give help all the way.
Pray to God that u'll survive this. Don't ever hesitate, or give up. U'll need all ur courage n strenght to move on.
