Generally Lexapro takes 3-5 weeks to 'kick in' and actually affect your serotonin (the chemical it is increasing in your brain, which makes you feel less depressed/anxious) so are you sure it was the Lexapro and not something else?
Occasionally I can't sleep a whole night for no reason at all, medicated or not. These things happen, and usually happen when we are anxious about something, or still getting over being anxious about something. Seeing you have a anxiety disorder, you should be no stranger to insomnia.
Either way, if it continues, call your doctor who prescribed you the medication and he can give you a short term supply of anti-anxiety medication or sleeping medication. These are taken for a short time until the body adjusts to the Lexapro, assuming it is the cause.
No need to drop the Lexapro over a night of insomnia.
When you first begin taking an antidepressant, you might have what are called "break-in side effects" from the medication. They only last a couple weeks or so, and the symptoms vary from insomnia to weird dreams. You might experiment with the time you take your Lexapro, and find a time that works the best for you. It doesn't matter as much when you take the Lexapro, as long as you take it every day.
I found by experimenting that the best time for me to take my Lexapro is with dinner, I sleep better at night, and I'm more awake the next day. While that works well for me - it might be just the opposite for you. A medication does not work the same in any two people.
I hope that helps =)

I take generic Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) with dinner, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, and it's working very well for me.
