Why does my mood always change? Am I going through depression?!

Question: Why does my mood always change? Am I going through depression?
Soooo.. I'm 13 and I've been going through a lot of changes and stuff.. I know that's normal since I'm a teenager now.. but I've been going through a lot of mood swings, it's kind of scary.. why is this happening? One day, I'm really happy.. like I love my life.. then other times I'm really sad and I start crying out of the blue? But I know there's reasons causing me to feel depressed... but am I going through depression? How can i know? and what is making me go through so many mood swings? Is this healthy at my age..

Theres a lot of hormonal changes happening in your body at the moment so this will almost certainly be affecting how you're feeling. However, maybe you could have a chat with someone whos really close and who you trust. How about your mother? She would definately be able to give you a hug and make you feel better, give you reassurance. Mood changes are very normal at 13, however if you feel very down and its affecting your life then it could be a sign of something more, in which case you could see your doctor. xx take care hun. xx

It is possible that you are depressed, but my guess is that your just a teenager with crazy hormones. This will die down as you get older. I think I went through that period from 12-17. You can look into symptoms of bi-polar, and depression but be careful as these are often miss diagnosed. I would suggest seeking medical attention if you have suicidal thoughts, or thoughts to harm yourself. If its just happy to crying, to talking back to elder (its probably hormonal) You could try going on birth control pill to level everything out if it is a huge issue.

It's called hormones and being a teenager. If you think it;s really bad talk to your doctor, but im sure they'll say the same thing.

Chin up all teenagers go through this at some point, your get throw it
