Question: What happens if you show up at the E.R. after taking an overdose and say you were just tired and wanted sleep?
They said:
What happens if you overdose on a whole bunch of pills and than you get yourself to the E.R. and in your mind, you wanted to die, but you tell them that you just wanted to sleep and bring down your anxiety.. What would they do ? Would they just check to see if you're okay physically and send you on your way

And can you refuse to get you rstomach pumped if you got yourself to the hospital to make sure you were physically ok ? And that you just don't want to get your stomach pumped
OK, my question is easier than that.
WHY would you take yourself to the ER because you've overdosed then just tell the staff you're tired and want to sleep? If you didn't want them to think you'd taken an overdose, you wouldn't have gone.
So, you think the staff will think 'this person just walked into the ER because they're tired'?
Somehow I think medical staff are intelligent enough to know that when people are tired, they go to bed, not to the hospital.

sometimes i never figure out why i was blocked. i think there are some people who don't like one of my answers and then follow me around to thumbs down - i hope not, because nobody should have that much extra time and anger.
i think staff would get va psychiatrist to talk to the person and possibly put a 72 hour hold on them. this probably depends if the person has insurance, sorry to say.
I think their issues is, if you try to kill yourself, someone finds you and takes you to the hospital, and you don't want psychiatric help, then you would lie and say you just wanted to sleep, and you weren't trying to kill yourself.
If someone OD'd on pills, they most likely wouldn't walk into the hospital or refuse to get their stomach pumped.
They pump your stomache just like everyone elses
and you just answer your own question..sleep well
