The only true treatment to depression is seeking help from a therapist. Oftentimes people are hesitant to go to a counselor becuase they feel its only for people who have "real mental issues" (ie crazy), but that is simply not true. Think of a counselor as someone who is paid to just sit and listen to anything and everything on your mind and to help you sort through your thoughts and to understand what you are feeling. A completely sympathetic and understanding captive audience, who wouldn't want that?!

Since you are in school still, there are probably school counselors you can go see without directly involving your father so you can discuss with them how to talk to him and make him understand what you are going through.

It is important to understand that you are NOT alone in how you feel. There are many people who go through a long period of extreme depression, but once they work through it, come out the other side and lead such amazing and happy lives that their past is only a memory. It is also important to know that you have completed the hardest step, asking for help. You are well on your way. Now just take that next step and try to find that help.

If you need someone to rant to or some advice or someone to just hear you out while you are searching for a more permanent person to help you through this, feel free to email me at ade0123@yahoo.com. I would sincerely be happy to try to help you, to the extent that I can :)

You will get to a point where you are happy and content in your life, just keep working towards it and search and accept help where you can find it. :)

Talk to your school counselor or school nurse. They could help you. Tell your Dad straight out how you feel.

Exercise and spend some time in the sun.
