Where do I get help with my depression?!

Question: Where do I get help with my depression?
I have felt depressed for a very long time, I want help.
It effects my school work, I find it very difficult to get up each morning, I feel very tired but find it difficult to sleep because my mind won't switch off these feelings. I tend to hide these feelings so people don't understand when I talk about it, but I want people to know. Most days I just want to curl up on the sofa alone for several hours. It also creates problems with my diet, I feel unmotivated to cook or eat, sometimes I eat to much because of it. Also, I am usually mean to people without realising because I feel so bad. I often cry, I do quite easily and the feeling build up until I can cry privately.
I don't want to tell my parents as they are not the type to understand and they do not see how mental illness is the same as any illness. My friends are little help. I want to see a doctor scretly, but do not want to see my family doctor or go to my local practice at all because many people know my mother, even if they must remain quiet about patients I'd still feel uncomfertable. In england are there clinics for this or walk in centres? I know locally there is a nhs centre which deals with sex advice, is there a place like this for mental health?
I'm not sure who I should tell at my school, no teachers are that nice and as I'm in 6th form my school is less concerned about student, more about grades, and there isn't as much support.
Has anyone been throught this and found answers?

Whatever your problem is, your consultation with your doctor is PRIVATE/CONFIDENTIAL there is no need for anyone to be told about your visit. The person to see about your depression IS your GP, so if you feel the need to go and see the doc, then GO. Should your family question you about your visit then just say you are a bit under the weather, nothing to be worried about, its not their business anyway. Good luck, and don't leave it too long if this is the way you are feeling.

I found this website below, you might want to check it out and maybe chat with other teens who are dealing with depression. You can also ask doctors questions.

"Walk In" clinics for Depression do not exist as such.

Clearly you need to be assessed for suitable treatment and support. The treatment will likely entail an antidepressant and/or counselling/therapy. Is sounds like the combination of both would be best for you. Antidepressants are effective in Depression. Psychological Therapy (especially CBT is effective in Depression. The combination of the two is even more effective.

You need a route to see a Doctor. You may need to overcome your fear about being seen at your own GP surgery. The staff working there are bound by professional confidentiality. You might even need to overcome your fears regarding your parents. You don't have to use the word "Depression". Instead you can mention "Insomnia", "Fatigue" and "Pain" etc. These are all legitimate reasons for seeing a doctor.

What is the worst that could happen if your Mother learns that you are going to see a doctor? Whatever that is, is it as bad as continuing to suffer in the same way as you are right now?

The only other options I can think of are asking around for a Young Persons Counselling Service which is usually free and enquiring of the School Nurse/Doctor.
