Help with Step Dad With ADD and My Problem with Depression?!

Question: Help with Step Dad With ADD and My Problem with Depression?
My Step dad and mom have been together for 6 years and my mom thought that he seemed to be acting really strange (she noticed after they married) and it seems he has ADD. We're in a whole other country from where I was born now and I have fallen victim of depression. My parents haven't figured this out yet but I have trouble not getting angry with my step dad and I don't know what to do about this. Plus I don't know if I should put the pressure on my parents of telling them about the depression. The depression has gotten to the point of one attempted suicide and I had been cutting but I only do it occasionally now when I can't resist. I am 14 and I could use all the advice I can get. Please help!

I've seen my friend go through depression and trust me it seems to hurt... I can't say how you feel but I can relate to my friends experience... The only thing I must tell you is never hide it or it will become a bad situation later on... If you feel like you should not tell your parents right away consult a school guidance counselor or your family doctor. Don't just go take antidepressants because you don't want to become addicted to such a thing. Because right now you don't care about your actions. Example you cut yourself... That is a very bad idea it does not remove the pain. Actually it scares you for life and later on those scars will remind you of this bad experience in your life time... All I'm saying is seek help immediately before it's to late. You are not alone. You can get through this without medication I know you can just believe in yourself and stay positive. But tell your parents soon don't get them to worried... good luck with everything take care.

believe me your parents have noticed your depression but you need to tell them and get help for it. suicide is not the answer. i know because i have severe depression and i have tried suicide 4 times in my life. the self harming (cutting) is not going to help anything and you need help to stop that. i don't know what country you are presently in but you need to go to your doctor and let him/her know what is going on and let them tell you where you and your dad can go to get the proper help needed for your individual problems. ASAP!

tell your mum not ur dad...

As hard as it is you need to tell your parents. The key is to try to be calm and not pointing finger when you tell them. Simply state I fee like....when.... and go from there. I am sure they would want you to tell them. Maybe you should also go to a doctor to discuss antidepressant medication for a little while? You have to stop cutting yourself this is self mutilation and you need to love yourself more than that. You are young and have an entire future ahead of you. It is hard to have step parents and to get along with your parents sometimes at this age but this is just a short period of time in your life. You will be graduating fomr high school and maybe going to college in just about 4 years and then you will meet new people and enter into relationships and eventually beging your life as an adult. Please never consider suicide again. You have a purpose for your life and you are here for a reason.

I don't know what country you are in , from what you have said. It looks like the usa.

Cutting is considered the outcome of deeper pain that the person is not dealing with in a healthy way, and they can become addictied to the hormone rush of cutting.
It is considered a serious problem that one deserves professional help with.
I hope you do talk to them, and get the help you deserve, so you can have a positive and happy future.
