How many missed appointments should a psychotherapist tolerate before terminatin!

Question: How many missed appointments should a psychotherapist tolerate before terminating their client?
Does it help attendance if you charge for late cancellations or "forgotten" appointments?

I would think the maximum would be three without a phone call. For late cancellations you should charge
a fee of at least 25 dollars, unless of course it truly is an emergency.

My therapist calls me a day or two before my appointments to remind me. I have found this to be extremely helpful in not only keeping my appointment but, also for having a starting point for when I arrive. We always have a small chat when he calls, about five minutes or so.

well more than 2. and well if they dont come for weeks its bad they need their sessions,
they need to go as much as they can, or they wont get well and happier and feel better,
therapy is very important to feel better, once a week is good to see someone..
and then well ask if u can leave messages on their cellphone just to make yourself feel better.
i asked my shrink and she says yes.. so i call her when feeling worried just leaving a message
makes me feel better... and i use journol to write all thoughts in.. all day and night
makes me feel like i got some thing accomplished...

It is individual. Most have their routines, and let clients know up front. Cancelation within 24 or 48 hours. Pay up if you don't and miss an appointment, or a percentage of it.
Talk it out about what is going on, etc.
You have been practicing and don't know that?
