Can someone fully recover of an early onset of schizophrenia?!

Question: Can someone fully recover of an early onset of schizophrenia?
My older brother said that he had schizophrenia when he was younger and had hallucinations and dillusions. He went to a psychiatrist and got put on medication for it.
He was taken off his medication after a year or two of treatment and seems fine now.

Does that mean he is cured? Or is there a chance it can come back?
My mom and dad said that he's cured but I was told that its not a curable mental disease.

Thank you!

Younger people can go through times that are like schizophrenia , recover and not go throught them again, yes.
He would do well to get a complete hormone, vitamin, mineral check up and a check for food allergies to insure his success.
There is a long list of physical problems that can cause these symptoms also, that can be healed.

This is a controversial question. According to some, people in developing countries have a better chance of recovering completely, even though they are less likely to take medication. That's based on a study by the World Health Organisation.

It comes to the heart of whether medication is a good idea or not. Some people say that medication makes you worse, and less likely to get better.

It's difficult to know what the answer is, because the studies that are done in Western cultures are presumably done when patients come into contact with the medical establishment, which means that they will be put onto medication. So how do you tell what happens if there's no medication being taken, when the medical establishment doesn't seem to want to try that option?

I hope, for your sake, that your brother has been completely cured. However, the medical establishment would probably just say that if he has been, he was incorrectly diagnosed in the first place.

My sister has schizophrenia, the thing is you are never really 'cured' you may get anxious and be afraid of many things or develop other things like my sister (anger management, drop in grades, trying to re live childhood, unsocial behavior, OCD, scared of germs, temper tantrums, acts like four year old, is scared of everything but she is recovering from being scared) and there is always a chance it can come back, but for now just be grateful they are better now :]

I have a schizophrenic sister and I am proud o her and love her to death

From some experience I do not think it can be cured but some people suffer alot and others can go years with no obvious signs I think life traumas, stress and things could make it worse but 'mind' are great for information if you ring them they are really helpful.www.mhttp://uk.wrs.yahoo.com/_ylt=A7x9Qbsto1l…

It can come back, I know because one of my family members was "better" after the medication, but after a few months he started seeing demons and stuff again, it may be different with each individual though! I wish you luck!

Family disorder =/
