How to deal with self harming again? ?!

Question: How to deal with self harming again? ?
I stopped self harming for only 2 months (not long Ino) I had self harmed for almost 2 years I did well to stop but now I've started again? I have been under alot of stress but I feel so bad about it, I feel like I can't tell anyone that I'm doing it again, I want to tell someone but I don't want then to feel like I need all the help I needed last time, because I'm sure I don't. I suffer/suffered from depression. What should I do? I have no idea how to deal with it? no nasty comments please thanks everyone

Sounds like you need an accountability buddy. Obviously your self injury is a coping mechanism you'd rather ditch because you feel bad when you do it right? So confide in a parent, friend, teacher... WHOEVER! Make sure you tell them that you're trying NOT to hurt yourself; that you realize its a problem and you're working to FIX it.. you just need their help and understanding! People are so much more capable of giving help when they know you're trying :-). Tell this person that in order to help you succeed you need them to provide a LISTENING ear when you are having a hard time! This doesn't give them license to judge or be mean or punish you! Tell them their job is to listen and discuss WHATEVER it is that is a problem for you.. whether its big or small its YOUR problem and them just letting you vent and be as angry as you want or sad or happy WHATEVER can help you quit all the bad coping behaviors and learn to deal with them productively.

Also invest in a spiral notebook to jot your thoughts in. Whether you keep it or just tear the pages out and burn them; doesn't matter. Its just a tool to get some of the stress out and into a line.. stuff does much less damage on a page rather than bubbling up inside of you making you want to turn to the first thing that'll relieve the issue (cutting, burning, whatever.)

Don't give up. Find a friend to talk to and remember that this is your decision on how to deal with stress! Remember that an issue may seem monumental one day but in ten years you are HIGHLY UNLIKELY to remember it at all... that is unless you have all those gnar scars to remind you.

Former cutter... ten years later I have all these scars on my arms and I can't tie a single event to any of them.

I kind of did a while ago, but it didn't get severe enough where I couldn't stop.
Anyway, I watch comedies, go out for walks in spring/summer/fall, Winter depresses me though.
If you keep doing it, just think, I'll wait to see how this turns out, and as the situation progresses, whether you need to self-harm or not, you have at least delayed the matter, and delays will eventually lead to a solution, as the longer you can last without, the closer you get to recovering.

you've stopped once so well done for that it's similar to smoking people stop but often a stressful time they start again i know self harming is a bit like an addiction its very hard to stop without help if you can ask for help doesn't have to be loads but just a little support and maybe some advice on some better coping stratergies.have you got someone close to you could confide in or would you be able to goto your gp they can give you some support and im sure they could refer you to someone.Hope you find that strength to stop again you have done it once it can be done again ,stay strong we all these slips sometimes, good luck

you did really well to stop for that long well done it would maby be a good idea to tell someone i know you dont want to but at least it would stop things from becoming as bad as they did last time if you dont need all the help you got last time people would soon realise that

one thing you could try by yourself is to gradually reduce the amount of times you self harm although this will probably be difficult if you have done it for 2 years now and is something you use to cope

I really think you should tell someone you trust - good luck

You should still tell someone, but tell them that you don't think you need help. Just support. You can to rub ice on your skin or snap a rubber band? Think about what leads you to cut then change your life. Try doing the 15min game. When you want to cut wait 15min before you do, then when the times up see if you can go another 15min.

DO YO FEEL BETTER AFTER YOU CUT YOURSELF? THEN I WOULD DO IT TOO!
