why do i move in my sleep?!


Question: Why do i move in my sleep?
normally i never move in my sleep. i do move slightly sometimes and sometimes i even go the whole night without moving. but lately ive been moving alot. my blanket ends up on the floor and im on the other side of my bed. and all my pillows are all over the place. why does this happen? its happend to me before.

Movement while sleeping happens during NREM (non-rapid eye-movement) sleep. Most dreams occur during REM sleep, but the body is more relaxed; while in NREM sleep, the mind is more relaxed but the body is more active.

It's in this phase that people experience parasomnia; things like sleepwalking and talking, tossing and even sleep-eating. 1 in 10 kids and 1 in 50 adults will experience these things, but even more will have experiences like you have when they just move around more. Sometimes increased sleep activity can be caused by stress or worry, or by some medications. If it's not really effecting your quality of sleep, then it really is nothing to worry about :)
