Question: Can bipolar cycles occur within a day?
If say you went from manic (or hypomanic) to depressed within 24 hours and this occurred frequently over a long period of time, is that still considered bipolar? Or is it just some crazy mood swing?

Yes. There is such a thing as rapid cycling bipolar, and there are different classification depending on just how rapid.
Depending on other symptoms, it could also be classified as mood disorder NOS, or a symptom of some other problem. Notably Borderline Personality Disorder causes rapid mood swings.
Even rapid cycling does not happen that fast..... Rapid cycling means 4 or more cycles in a year! Mood swings that happen that fast are more likely due to Borderline Personality Disorder which is similar to but not the same thing as Bipolar.
