Why do I always feel so sad at night?!

Question: Why do I always feel so sad at night?
So this started around the time I moved out of the dorms where I was rooming with friends and into an apartment. Also, my boyfriend moved across the country due to lack of funds. Some reason I don't really care about school any more and don't feel like doing anything. I am incredibly confused by this and due to my lack of effort my grades are suffering and I am getting incredibly stressed by this. Seems like I'm always stressed, there is also the problem that every night i get into really bad moods where I just feel like crying and sleeping. Another reason I get into bad moods is I stress about every little thing especially grades. I have no idea what to do so if anyone can give me some advice that would be great.

Same thing with me, but mine is a bit more extreme. Basically, it's a mental reaction to lighting that affects your mood. I don't fully understand it, but it has to do with your brain linking darkness and quietness to sadness, so when it's at night and you are alone in a quiet, dark room, you begin to feel sad. It doesn't have anything to do with evaluating your day or anything like that, but brain chemistry changes significantly through the course of a day (libido and appetite increase at night as well) If you wake up early and have a stressful day at school, then go home and lay alone in your bed with the curtains closed, lights turned off, and no sound, you will feel the exact same as you are describing. Also, if you cry yourself to sleep or go to sleep sad, you will wake up in the morning thinking that you were unlike your normal self the night before. This is because the chemicals in the brain are restored to their regular balance and you don't feel over-emotional.

Well, that is if you're like me. I'm not a psychiatrist or doctor so it could be something totally different. Just trying to help.

Don't worry dude at night ur alone and have time to think. Sometimes ppl like us think to deeply and end up crying but dude if u have some fun in ur life you will go to bed feeling great!

Me too always sad and feeling sick but for me is bc....

Well, to answer the original question, we become sad at night because that is when we evaluate our lives. Night is the perfect time to think; everyone is quiet, it's dark, you're tired. But, this also means you become your own worst enemy. This is just an internal battle that can simply be won if you go to bed. I find that if I am sad and go to bed I wake up and feel like it never happened. Maybe you should try that.

To de-stress, I would just go do something fun! If you deprive yourself of having fun for too long, it builds and builds until you are stressed about EVERYTHING. Take a break, because you deserve one.
