I have been feeling sad constantly. Any advice?!

Question: I have been feeling sad constantly. Any advice?
I have been feeling sad for the past 1 to 2 months, and I can't even figure out why. Some times it is like as if I want to bawl my eyes out, but not a single tear falls and that hurts. I have even thought suicidally before and have committed cutting(though I do feel ashamed). During school and at home I have to put up a facade because I don't want people to find out, especially not my parents, because they might ask alot of questions which would prove rather embarassing. Any ideas?

Answers:

Memories... I was exactly like you, I came very very close to stabbing myself once. I was 12 at the time. My teacher asked my friend if I was acting strangely, but my friend denied it (knowing that I didn't want anyone to find out), this may seem bad but he was only 11 so I forgive him.

Tell your guidance councilor, I will not try to trick you here because you seem Intelligent, DO NOT tell her you have contemplated suicide until you have become willing to get your parents involved. S/he is bound to confidentiality unless you tell her you intend on hurting/killing yourself. If your school does not have a guidance councilor then speak to a trusted teacher, but be careful as they are not bound to confidentiality.

Call suicide hotline, kids helpline, whoever. They are free and will not show up on your phone bill (so your parents won't know you ever called).

Tell your friends, like the others play it down a bit so they don't get worried and tell someone. They will be able to help you through this.

Instead of cutting go for a run (or feeling depressed), you get the same boost only it lasts longer, and the pain is productive. It will also help take your mind off depression. FACT - Exercise releases endorphins in your brain, making you happy.

Good luck.

Been there.

You need to have some kind of therapy, as it sounds like you are very depressed, and what is the cutting all about that you and some others do? Does that make you feel better about yourself? How does that help you? I think it makes no sense at all to harm yourself for no matter what reason it is. That is sadistic and dangerous.
