You first need to know what kind of depression you are suffering with. There are different kinds and it depends on what is causing it. If your depression is caused by circumstances going on in your life it will most likely go away. But there are depressions like Bi-Polar, Uni-Polar and Clinical Depression that require the help of a psychiatrist. There are many safe medications that can help you with your depression. You need a correct diagnosis first.

The degree of depression does dictates whether you need to seek out treatment from a mental health professional.

If it is a situational type of depression and it is mild, then you would not need to obtain this type of treatment. But if it is severe and seems to be worsening every day and you just cannot seem to get out of it, then you would benefit from therapy. You would only require what is called "talk therapy."

If it is a chemical depression, you would need to seek out the help of a psychiatrist who would be able to treat you with medication and alleviate the symptoms you are currently having. If it is chemical, you may need to be on medications for a long period of time, but without these medications a depression can progressed to the point that one may become suicidal.

You need to make the decision of whether to seek out this professional help or not.

Admitting that you have a depression is a good start to let it go, next step is try to talk to someone to let go everything that is bugging your mind/heart. Talking is also a natural remedy, find someone who could listen to your worries. Don't forget to keep yourself up with positive energy & thinking, be happy is a mind set. It depends if it is chemical or situation. If it is chemical it could still get better but it would take years probably at least. If it's situational then yes it can go away on it's own.

I've lived with that sh*t for too long now. It can get better for a while but then it just gets worse again and even worse than it was before. Please get help. Save yourself.
