Am I a depressed teen?!

Question: Am I a depressed teen?
So I'm fourteen. And I'm not sure what's going on with me. Sometimes I sit in class, real glum, and sad and mad at the world. I hate the way I look, I hate the way I dress, and I hate the fact that I'm so fat. (5 feet and 125 pounds.) All I can think about is getting new clothes, looking good for once in my life, and amazing everyone. My friends are starting to leave me out, so when they do pay attention to me I kinda just block them out. At lunch I don't go out to eat with my friends, I usually go to my next class classroom, and sit their eating, doing my homework, and talking to my teacher. I love clothes, but not because the way they make me look and stuff. I like them because they cover me up and the world doesn't have to see me. I never take off my sweatshirt (cause it's puffy and covers me) and I always feel really aware of everything that goes around me, and how people look at me or talk to me, etc. Am I depressed, or is this just a phase I'll break out of?

Answers:

It sounds to me as if you have a low selfesteem problem. I was like that when I was your age but I found friends who accepted me for me and I had family my age also who helped me. Now i'm 19 almost 20. And if you really love clothes and fashion get magazines and cut pictures and make a wall college of them show someone you trust what you like to do. Sounds like your passion to me. Or even look in the mirror and tell yourself your beautiful. If you have a ipod put the earbuds in dance around in your room don't make yourself feel bad or low. Your a beautiful girl and I bet you have a really bright spirit! Hope I helped =) Kisses Beautiful

It seems like a balance between the hard years of a teen and also depression. Try going for a walk or listening to music stuff you can do as for your friends if there not talking to you much you should go and talk some other people or get involved with some group it really does help you focus less on all those teenage struggles

find something that makes you happy a new hobby or new games or something you enjoy doing.

No, you're just a normal teenage girl going through that awkward phase... Been there, done that. It'll soon pass, trust me... :)

that is depression. think about things that make you happy
