Fear of swallowing/choking?!

Question: Fear of swallowing/choking?
Hi,

For the past few weeks I have had trouble with swallowing.

I have been to the doctors a few times and had various tests and they have concluded that there is nothing wrong with me.

They said that my problems with swallowing are physiological and I perhaps have a fear of swallowing/choking on foods.

It takes me a very long time to eat due to this.

What to do?

Thanks

you drs are psychologically dingy
foods sometimes cause this,
some people have non specific vomiting, nausea,,,,goes on for years,,foods, maybe chemicals are the cause,,,relief often occurs when the offender is tossed outa the menu, into the trash,,done by process of elimination, maybe chicken, beef, pork, seafood, shellfish, lamb… be a vegetable, fruit.
among the nerves that trigger the vomit reflex, are nerves that relax the gullet,or esophagus, what you have may be a quarter of the vomit reflex,,,,a nerve that exits the mandible on both sides may be exitable,
tapping an index finger against this nerve ,if it kind of tingles, might be hyper excitable and causing the problem

I have the very same problem. At first I thought it was a thyroid problem until I went to the E.R. once and tests came back negative. Turns out it's just a part of my anxiety disorder. I've had the problem for 3 years now. It really is hard; I eat mostly soft foods like pasta. Do you have any other fears or could your fear be linked to a type of anxiety disorder? I take Lexapro (an antidepressant for my anxiety) and it seems to help. I think less about my food and am able to eat more, faster and also think about just swallowing in general less. Best of luck to you!
