Am I depressed??????????????!

Question: Am I depressed??????????????
I feel down most of the time these days. I wake up feeling depressed and go to school feeling depressed. But I have moments where I am happy, but they are short-lived and then the sadness and hopelessness comes crashing down harder than before. Sometimes I think about suicide and I cry over little things. I am much more sensitive than usual. I also am very stressed. But whats scary is whenever Im truely happy, that the darkness of everything comes down harder on me and I think suicide again but I know I'll never do it. IDK.... I told my mom but she didnt seem too concerned.

I also get in moments where I act crazy and high, IDK why I get like that, and then afterwards I shut myself up and just sit in self-pity.

Answers:

Sounds very much like Bipolar Disorder. Bipolar Disorder is accommodated with periods of sadness; then a sudden of feeling of happiness. You feel invincible, really; as though you're on top of the world. You can be hyper for no reason, then become depressed just as fast. I'd recommend seeing a psychiatrist since your mom doesn't seem to care...

Experience.

Suicidal thoughts are a good reason to visit a psychologist. In the meantime you may try mood lifting methods which are described here:

I agree that it could possibly be biopolar disorder (depression with chemical highs, basically) or it could be that you have some other type of depression or it could be that you just need something you don't have. If you have a Bible read John chapter 3. It helps. I've been there. You can email this address if wanted for more help and info on depression. blessedgirl20@yahoo.com

Probably hormones. If you had depression, it would've been going on for much longer than you'd think. I have clinical depression and it started about a year ago and it slowly gets worse and worse. If you're really concerned, tell your school counsellor or call the kids help line. 1800 668 6868.

yes.. what i recommend is google suicide or hotline for depression call tell them how you feel... dont let the sadness takeover... allow yourself to be happy whenever you feel the sadness coming on think of things that make you happy...

im anna too. :)

Life is pretty lame. I go through the same crap. You are fine.

k i think u are bipolar because i went through this all and i think you should check out with a clearance house and tell them this. then if they say ure just depressed i would go to a support group and go to a site called nami.com and search for support groups near you. they might help if you don't want to go to the drs like clearance then rehab because i think u should go to clearance first and talk to your mom again and look up the links i gave you u will find some important information there because i might think you are bipolar i am not sure because i am bipolar 2 my self i have a support group building up in nj for this kind of situation i also have a Facebook page its like a online support group for it i have given u the links with the sources its the Facebook link here it is again if you have heard time finding it http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kids-with-Bipolar/183924704966302 research again for more information about depression and feelings of suicide and if you still not sure bout what you think you have talk to you're mom again and consult with a dr.i am not a possessional but i went through allot so i know.
