Is this self-harm actually worrying?!

Question: Is this self-harm actually worrying?
When I'm alone or unoccupied I sometimes bruise, burn myself in places people can't see (hips, stomach) but I think I do it because I like the look of it and enjoy the feeling of prodding the bruises afterwards.
I'm not that depressed either but it's become kind of addicting. So should I stop? It's not really hurting anyone because nobody would ever suspect it.

Answers:

It's good that you're not doing it to cope with feelings, however this is a form of self harm and like you said it is addictive and will only get worse if you don't stop. Other methods you can try are: drawing on yourself with red marker pen - you said you like the way it looks, and although this doesn't have the same effect it is better than hurting yourself. Find something else to do and just stay occupied, you might be doing it partially out of boredom (I know that sounds stupid but it's all relevant). Take up a new hobby; sports is good, or something like jewellery making or knitting to keep your hands busy.
Best of luck :-)

I wouldnt like it if my friend was doing that, I cant tell you what to do but I would just suggest a hobby (atleast a less painful one). Becareful though. There is always someone that cares about your actions. :)

take up a physical sport, preferably a martial art, then you will get bruises and you'll get exercise

not really. i used to do things like this, because i was addicted to pain... but just be careful. lol. dont over do it.

Yes, it is worrying. Human nature doesn't suggest that one should harm onesself.

Go get some mental help.
