Adderall changed my breathing patterns?!

Question: Adderall changed my breathing patterns?
I was prescribed 20 mg of Adderall XR a couple of weeks ago by my doctor. I am not feeling much of a difference, but am giving it the full month like I was instructed before going back to possibly adjust the dosage.

two days ago, while recovering from a cold, I noticed a small pain at the base of my lungs when I took a deep breath. The next day, it went away, however I noticed that my breathing patterns have changed. My breaths are very shallow. Every so often I need to consciously take a big, satisfying breath, hold it for a second, and then release. I do not quite know how else to describe it. Its not that I cant breath, it's just different.

I know the drug acts as a stimulant, and I have done my best to cut out most caffeine to balance. is this just a side effect? will it go away? should I learn to live with it? Looking to hear any other experiences that may be similar to mine. thank you

Dsypnea is a common side effect of adderall. That doesn't explain the pain but it would account for the change in the depth of your breaths. The fact is that the pill adderall and others like it (Ritalin) were designed as "easier" solutions to problems that everyone has to deal with. Instead of resolving to make ourselves concentrate it is easier to take a pill that takes care of it. I implore you to take a really hard look at why you are taking the pill and whether or not you really need it. I hope you find that you don't.
