Is it normal to want to be thin?!

Question: Is it normal to want to be thin?
Like bone-thin, ribs showing through, arms stick-thin kind of thin?

I hate looking normal, and I dread becoming fat, and right now I guess I look just average, not fat, but not thin either, and I just feel fat. Ugh, I wish I could be bone-thin but I know I can't 'cause I've tried and it's just not a healthy or maintainable lifestyle.

Answers:

I'm sure most people at one time or another have wanted to be thinner. I have the same problem as you - I know I am average weight but I feel tremendously fat and wish to lose weight. I know it's not healthy but I try to eat as little as I can without my parents knowing.
I think it's not healthy to want to be stick-thin, it can lead to eating disorders and trouble later on. You say that you are average weight, which is good as you recognise that you are not overweight.
Never feel like you're fat or unattractive, you know you are attractive and average if not thin, don't try and change yourself for others, especially in an unhealthy, unmaintainable way.

To answer your question, I'd say it is normal to wish to be thinner, we are forced to believe that the only way to be beautiful is to be terribly thin by the media. However, it is unhealthy, especially to want to be stick-thin. Please realise that we are all beautiful, it doesn't matter what size or shape we are. If someone is making fun of you for who you are, it's their loss for not being able to see past skin deep, artificial beauty, in to a person's personality.

I wish you all the best x

No, it's not normal. There's a disorder called Body Dysmorphic Disorder where someone focuses on some perceived flaw with their body, that could be what you have.

No, it is not normal. That's what doctors call Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

No, it is not normal. Sometimes I feel the same way though. You should seek counseling.

Wanna trade arms?

And that is not normal,
