How do syn?sthesiacs know that they are syn?sthesiacs?!
Question: How do syn?sthesiacs know that they are syn?sthesiacs?
For example, one syn?sthesiac on a T.V. program (a "learning" program, not a fictional one) said that each letter is a different color. But how she she know that? How does she know that "pink" is a color as we perceive it, and that "pink" does not refer to as whatever she sees colors as? And how does she know that the letter isn't actually pink?
P.S. If there are syn?sthesiacs reading this, I apologize for putting this in the category "mental health", but I could not find anything for "neurological conditions" or anything else similar.

Yes. Synaethesiacs do realize there is something wrong with their perception. Synaethesia generally develops over time, and isn't generally constant, so there was a time when she perceived letters and colours correctly, and now she does not.
For one, they're unable to differentiate between "a" and "e" while writing. They end up combining the two letters into one letter that messes up their sense of vision.
