I feel so stupid and useless... I just want to die?!

Question: I feel so stupid and useless... I just want to die?
I'm a 16 year old girl and I always feel useless. I always feel absolutley stupid and dumb compared to everyone in my class, I can't friggen to anything right...I mean I really CAN'T! In my old school I was an average student, but I was awkward and scared to do simple things there (ie go to the pencil sharpener across the room, ask to go to the bathroom, etc.) At this new school though I feel both stupid and awkward...I have for awhile now(It takes me forever to learn something that takes other students a few minutes to learn!!!) ...I wish I had never been born. Everyone always tells me how stupid I am (Well, some people do but I know people whisper about me). I'll never get married because all the guys think I'm too stupid to marry. I'm just so fed-up with myself...what do I do?

Hiya,
First of all you need to stop convincing yourself your stupid !!! As i dont think this is the case at all i think its more likely to be very low self esteem and no confidence.
NOT stupidity at all, do u have some one close that you can talk to such as a friend, sister parents?,If not maybe you should see your gp regarding the way you feel about yourself.
I do not want to patronize you in any way, but i really hope that you try to think more positive about life and your future as things do get easier as you get older, as for boys etc not wanting to marry you because your stupid ....well you will find the right guy when the time is right who will want you and love you for who you are!!! but you have a long time to find him.
Please dont worry about that just yet

good luck chic x

Never ever think you're stupid, because in actual fact, no one is. Everyone has a talent, no matter what some people think. If you don't feel like you're getting anything, it's probably because of the way you're being taught. Maybe you should get a tutor. They can usually teach topics from the curriculum in a much easier way. And please, never feel like you want to die. That's an awful state of mind to be in. Just keep going, I guarantee you'll get it in the end. :) x

I was just the same as you at 16 now i have a wife 3 kids a very big house and over 3 milion pounds in the bank,i was so unhappy at school and did not do well, you have to say to your self fu*k the rest of them i will live for me i will go out there and succeed, find what you are good at and exploit it,look in the mirror and say to that person looking back we can do it. .

ur fine. im just like u. u have a learning disorder probobly. just go to a doctor or something.

talk to your mum, your dad or some grown-up with a mature sensible attitude to life. Sixteen can be a rough age, I remember it well. Stop thinking so deeply about your perceived awkwardness. Who ever you decide to talk to, make them listen. Parents sometimes haven't a clue what kids are going through. Have you a subject you love, like Art etc - make a hobby of it, do things you like doing and some things you don't like doing, maybe going into a smart restaurant. Get a reason to get dressed up and learn bit by bit to be confident. Maybe change your hair style. You are NOT stupid, just need a bit of confidence . All the luck in the world

First thing's first: You're not stupid, and I'm not just saying that to be nice, but I can tell from the way you present yourself through writing. Your thoughts are clearly well organized here, and you're articulate in expressing them. These things don't come easily, even to those of average intelligence, let alone dumb people.

Doing poorly in school doesn't mean you're dumb, and since I can tell you're not dumb, I have to assume you have a learning disability. That explanation fits especially well considering how much your school performance has depressed you -- since truly dumb people are often rather content and accepting of their academic mediocrity. Your frustration shows that you're seeing an inconsistency in yourself that you can't explain -- you know you're smart, but you can't seem to make it work for you. Again, this points to a learning disability.

You should see a school counselor or psychologist about getting yourself tested for learning disabilities. Through specialized learning methods, or medication if need be, you can get around these "problems". I put "problems" in quotes because although they're popularly called "disabilities", they're really just differences in the way certain people think, that are incompatible with most prominent education methods. They don't necessarily actually mean anything is inherently "wrong" with you.

ADD/dyslexic since grade school, went undiagnosed til college

cheer up. nobody is perfect. im 100% sure ur good at something, i feel the same way as u do after i failed my calculus unit test and i studied over 15 hours for it over 2 days. really, if u need help with school. just talk to the teachers after class and arrange a time after school to do it. this is your future who cares what everyone says. i know ur intelligent and smart so u should believe that. and trust me your not the only one. there are many other people like u, u just cant tell, just like they cant tell whos like them. so like i said, do what u need to do. its ur future. whats gonna matter later on in life is the degree u have from college/university, not who ur friends were or what people thought about u
