Hey, could you describe some of your Bipolar hallucinations for me?!

Question: Hey, could you describe some of your Bipolar hallucinations for me?
I have it as well and I'm trying to compare mine to others.

Please don't get this confused with Bipolar delusions.

I'm not talking about believing in your manic thoughts, I'm talking about seeing things that aren't real.

Thanks to anyone who responds... :)

Visual Hallucinations are not typical of Bi-Polar illness. Bi-Polar (Manic-Depression) is a fashionable diagnosis that seems to be socially acceptable. For example, compare how many celebrities declare that they have Bi-Polar illness to those who declare that they have Schizophrenia, a Personality Disorder or a Substance Misuse Problem. The evidence suggests that many who say they have a Bi-Polar Illness, in fact have one of the other problems mentioned above.

If you do have a Bi-Polar Illness and you are experiencing visual hallucinations then those experiences will be influenced more by your mood, previous experience and personality than by the illness. However a manic hallucination will typically be grandiose in nature. For example it will put you in a superior light.

EDIT
I have to respond to Rebecca. I did say that "visual" hallucinations are not typical but of course they can occur although auditory hallucinations are more common. Visual hallucinations certainly can occur but usually only in extreme episodes. When they do, they usually reflect the mood of the person and their personality and experience. At the same time I wished to make it clear that visual hallucinations will occur in many other mental health problems and that Bi-Polar can often be attributed to someone (in my experience) too readily when it may be another diagnosis. There are several mental Health problems that resemble Bi-Polar, such as BPD and Substance Induced Psychosis and it is difficult, even for the best in the field to always make an accurate diagnosis.

I respect that we want to try and help "Sassy Fish" and although the information I give might not be what is wanted, I am hoping that it helps to broaden the picture.

I have included a couple of links below that will be helpful

Simon is misinformed. Bipolar 1 disorder frequently presents with delusions and hallucinations. Bipolar may be a catch all diagnosis for some but that does not mean that people who really are ill are just making it up.

I see my thoughts. They float around the room like feathers.....
