My mind is blank, especially in school; depression?!

Question: My mind is blank, especially in school; depression?
I'm in my first year of University. It's a wonder how I even got here. I just seem to lack a level of interest in reading, writing, and talking about things in groups. For example: In seminars everyone has something to say, but I won't even open my mouth because I know what I have to say isn't very academically smart but it could be if I was at least interested in what we were discussing. I don't find anything interesting anymore. It's like I'm faking it if I do try and pretend that I'm interested in something.

I've noticed that essays take me almost a whole month to do, because even after I've read a whole article, my mind is just blank. I know exactly what I read, but how could I possibly put this into words? Is this depression? I've noticed some other things as well...I was a lot different in elementary school, always top of the class, bright and motivated:s

I don't seem to fall into a hands on type of job either. Absolutely nothing in college seems to suit me either. Just don't have that level of interest. Maybe I was meant to work at the grocery store...really not sure at this point.

haha dont be stupid thats boredom. maybe your not being challanged. if you have got that far already without tryin then your obviously pretty smart, but you need to be challanged to keep interest ...
and if you did work in a grocery store the same laps' of concentration would happen and you would definitly be thinkin i should have tried in college.

i think (from what im reading into) your probably the kind of person that wont really enjoy life and achieve till you have left collage and lived a bit to find out what exactly what it is you want to do.

life

University is a lot more difficult than High School is. It takes a lot more hard work to succeed at the University. And you just need to force yourself to work hard and spend the time you need to spend to succeed in your studies.

There is no substitute for hard work. Some people find it easier to study at the University than others do, because they've studied more and prepared better in the past. But no one succeeds at the university without hard work.

sounds like your just bored not depressed
