Is HIV infected needle attack common?!

Question: Is HIV infected needle attack common?
Answers:

I don't think so, from the blood test requests I see coming from our A&E department and Sexual Health clinic. What is far more common is accidental needlestick injuries to members of the health profession which require tests being run to see if the donor was infected with anything.
I guess it would perhaps depend on your neighbourhood as to whether there are people about who would deliberately attack someone with a needle in hope of infecting them, and the incidence of HIV in the local population.

I think Hep C infection is probably more of a risk than HIV.

Needle attack? as in people releasing a bunch of infected needles?
I really haven't heard of that happening. It would be really hard to do. Finding some one with HIV to get blood on dozens of needles.

But people who share needles when shooting up heroin have a good chance of getting it.

No, not at all. But you will hear about it since it's common scarelore.
In other ways cautionary tales that are more about people's fears than reality.

I wouldn't say "common" as such, but its not unknown.
