Why are psychiatrists so weird?!

Many people I know who wanted to become social workers, counselors and psychologists are incredibly messed up themselves. I think they choose these occupations to reassure themselves that other people are crazy too. Or it's to avoid dealing with their own problems.

Psychiatrists claim that a person needs a drug to combat their chemical imbalance in the brain which is causing a persons mental disorder. However, the concept that a brain-based, chemical imbalance underlies mental illness is false. It has been thoroughly discredited by researchers and there is no test for imbalances..-Quakery exposed. Please dont waste your time with labels. Disorders dont exist in a biological way, and there is not any test to date that shows it. Psychiatry is conjecture and uses no science whatsoever.

Divorce, father gone, abuse, ignoring can make children grow up with all types of so called "Mental Problems" or turn them into abusers. They are hurt and pass it on. There are many secular docs out there who admit abuse causes false sickness-OCD, BP, Depression, Cutting etc.

People tear you down to build themselves up- Think about this for awhile. Words are not said to help you at all. Its only a trick to make abusers/parents feel good. This goes for people at school as well.

i've been to 4 psychiatrists through out my life and i have had only one that was weird. he told me that i could be cured of my mental illnesses if i went to his church every sunday with him and his secretary. than goodness he retired. all the others were really good. and i really like the one that i have now. i retired all the others.

retired two in their 70's and one in his 80's. the one that i have now is in his late 50's to early 60's.

Try discussing Pavlov's dog with them. Also tell them you have Stockholm syndrome. It winds them up and sends them crazy and you leave with a satisfying glow that will last all day.
What kind of person would want a job tyring to get in the mind of insane people, think about it.

Osmosis - the company they keep - plus too little criticism. Happily, there are helpful Rate-Your-Doctor sites now which allow us to post our assessments of MD performance. As a self-governing profession, MDs have failed rather dismally in providing the public with an effective, responsive complaints process - as have teachers, btw - but the Web is immune from their protection racket, so do pay a visit. If there isn't yet a site for your jurisdiction, start one!

Because they are people albeit those who selected to study, practice and somehow apply a generalized concept to unique individuals and sum it up in what 30 min to an hour? Makes one wonder doesn't it?

Personally do not find them helpful or necessary. It is subjective.

they are not nearly as weird as psychologists. Trust me. I am married to one! Maybe they got into this field because they want to find out why they have got mental issues. Does it make them feel better about themselves - to try and solve other peoples problems? I think it does

Psychiatrists are more about the medicine and science and organised theories of medication

Psychologists are there to help you mentally with their more free flowing knowledge.

You mean that weird feeling they give off where it seems like they're x-raying you or reading your mind? It's kinda creepy! I guess it's because that's what they're supposed to do.

Mine wasn't. But I guess some are weird because they might of had problems in the past which lead them to picking that career?

Because you get psycho yourself if you have to deal with mentally ill people all week long.

If you had to listen to people like me and you all day you would be weird too..lol

Because they know somethings we don't. It scares me sometimes. x
