I want off my antidepressants and don't want my doctor to say no to me... i!

Question: I want off my antidepressants and don't want my doctor to say no to me... it's my body right?
Antidepressants DON'T work for me. She's even said so herself. I take Effexor and it's a sugar pill. I also now take Lamictal and notice NO difference. The only med I feel helping me is my anti-anxiety pill Klonopin. I see her Tuesday and want off the other meds. How can I be firm and say to take me off? I mean it's my life, my body, it's NOT working. I know coming off SSRIs is hard (came off Zoloft and it SUCKED). But I'm ready and willing. I've tried so many meds it's just not my thing. I want her to take me off them. How can I tell her NO MORE MEDS.

Answers:

Tell her the Effexor and the Lamictal aren't working for you. If you want to try another medication, just say so. If you don't, tell her that. Lamictal is prescribed for mood disorders like bipolar, so if your problem is just depression I don't know why you would be on that. I take Lamictal for bipolar, and you have to start at a very low dose and work your way up to a maintenance dose, so it takes quite a while before you notice any effect. You didn't say what your actual diagnosis is, so it's hard to know if you're getting the right kind of meds for your problem. For the longest time doctors kept trying to give me antidepressants, which only made me feel worse. Finally a good psychiatrist found out what my real problem is, and now I take meds that actually work for me.

Sure Makes sense to me. But read the article below before hand. It says that withdrawal from Effexor is better when benzodiazepines are co-prescribed. Wish I had known that. Getting off that was murder.

I'd also try a whole food organic diet with organic whole milk only (others are not fully organic). It turned out my depression was largely caused by non-organic milk. and non-organic meat. Non-organic corn starch / flour caused me anxiety. Many drugs contain non-organic dairy, wheat, and starch from corn as drug fillers. I discovered all of this once I was on an organic diet.

My Effexor was in a gel cap which is made from cows (bovine material) - non-organic meat in a sense. So the Effexor was packed in the very substance that was causing my depression in the first place. Maybe that's why it's not working for you too. To see what's in your drugs inactive ingredients got to www.rxlist.com Good luck.

Say that you have decided to try the natural treatments for several months, and wean off all medications. ~~~

Effective natural treatment for anxiety is shown at http://your-mental-health.8m.com/blank_2… and page i. Passionflower (as directed, or 1 drop in a cup of warm water, 4 times daily; view http://altmedicine.about.com/od/anxiety/… ) may be helpful, short term, with other herbal remedies shown at http://www.online-herbal-remedies.com/he…

I'd avoid medications, except as a last resort, and even then, only use temporarily, as they don't address the causes, merely (imperfectly) treat the symptoms, and carry risks, and side effects. Learn and employ the relaxation techniques (begin with Progressive Muscle Relaxation) and the EFT variant for use in public places, in case it is needed there. ~~~

View the post about weaning off on page 3, and read the post on medications. Tackle them one at a time, or the first 2 together, and Klonopin last.

1st: Effexor is reputedly one of the worst to discontinue, so try the Prozac substitution method; ask her for a prescription, or you can get it online; some mail order companies have their own doctors prescribing; email me if necessary.

2nd: Use THEROADBACK for Lamictal.

3rd: Klonopin is a benzodiazapene; addictive, with a very long weaning off period; change weeks to MONTHS on the schedule shown, or use BENZOBUDDIES & THEROADBACK.
