I'm so frustrated by medical condition/disability?!

Question: I'm so frustrated by medical condition/disability?
I just do not know how to deal with this anymore.. I was diagnosed a rare condition called torticollis but trying so hard not to limited by this 'diagnosis'... it involves a contracted neck muscle (Scm) which caused tics and spasms in my neck. and absolutely no doctors can help... it does not help that this condition is so rare because people and even professionals I go to for help have no idea or solution. of course I did my own research and apparently there's no cure for this condition.
I was even in a situation where two doctors in a hospital were arguing about two drastically different treatments for me and then telling me I have to leave because my appointment time is up. One doc suggested a particularly risky surgery in 3 months time and the other doc was like no it won't help and would be counter-productive, and kept pushing for botox.. so now I'm down for a surgery appointment in 3 months time but I don't want to go :\
Tics and spasms of my contracted neck muscle keep troubling me.. I tried everything... chiropractic didn't help.. I still keep going to the physiotherapist and have started personal training... they have helped my general health but that's it.. I still have painful tics/spasms and do not want to go on muscle relaxants or botox because of the side effects. any advice or tips as to what my next steps could be? and how to deal? I don't want this to affect me mentally, it's affected how I live my life and I have already considered/considering suicide :(

Answers:

Please don't consider suicide. I have felt like you feel for vastly different reasons for a lot of my life, and what I do to stop myself is to realize how much it would hurt other people in my life...even people I don't think would care. Maybe that kind of logic would help you too. If it doesn't, you need to find an argument that does. Life is hard, but I always try to find something that is worth living for.

To answer your actual question: do what you have to do. I'm not going to pretend that I know about your condition but I do know a few things that could potentially help. I actually had botox in my armpits recently to fix my horrid sweating there. I didn't experience any of the side effects and the needle used was so small it didn't feel any worse than tiny pinches. Since the botox seems like a must less drastic route of action, and one that will eventually dissipate if unsuccessful and yet could be successful, I really think you should try that first. Never lose hope, and in the mean time realize that the trials you have faced have shaped who you are and probably made you a stronger person because of it. Stay strong

Edit: I've also known that a liquid magnesium supplement has sometimes really helped people with other kinds of tics. It can't hurt to try

You need to find a specialist, rare or not, there will be some. It has so many possible causes, and not knowing the specifics of your case, it's not possible to give specific medical advice. You shouldn't give up, or even think about it just yet, your already aware of some options, I'm betting there are others.
Even without knowing the specifics, I know it can always be worse, and that's something you need to remind yourself up, but in a better way, count your blessings, each and every one, including being blessed for not having this or that, it sounds lame but it helps steer your mind toward the positive and it works. In the meantime, keep doing research, there is so much info on the web, it's pretty much impossible to have checked all possible hits. Try different search engines, phrases, etc. just keep looking for an answer.

growing up my cousin had horrible ticks and spasms in his shoulder and neck. it used to really bother him. he had Turrets. he worked through it and now he's about to become a dentist...Suicide? That would just destroy everyone who cares about you. You can do this thing. You just have to stay grateful. I know its tough but its a must. Make a gratitude list....get out a pen and paper and write down everything you are grateful for...dog, car, parent, friend, etc...continue to do that every morning for a while and it will get better. i promise
