whats a good way to deal with depression?!

Question: Whats a good way to deal with depression?
im swamped in a huge black cloud.

It's a simple question without an equally simple answer!

The first thing to consider is that you are not alone, depression is a common illness effecting people of all walks in life. The good news is you have already taken the first big step in finding a remedy, identifying and accepting you are depressed, the rest is just to continue making the steps.

Next step is to seek help to put together a strategy to guide you along the road to recovery and that means a visit to your physician who will refer you to a specialist for assessment and to decide what is right for you to get well quickly as possible, working together to bring back the sunshine.

Think of it like a broken arm, with medical assistance, therapy, recovery and time it will be as good as new. and so will you. The only real difference is you and others can see a broken arm, depression is not quite so obvious!

Best wishes, God bless.

My own experience as a sufferer.

1) Remind yourself of the things that make you happy e.g your family, your friends.
2) Think of the people who have less then you, and be thankful for what you have.
3) Go out for walks. I know the weather is far from ideal, but a walk in the fresh air really lifts your spirits.
4) Keep yourself busy. The busier you are, the less time you have for worrying.
5) Wait patiently for a happy outcome - to every problem there is a solution, with every hardship there comes ease.
6) And although you may be going through a rough patch, look back on other problems that might have occured in the past, and how you got yourself through them.

And finally...

7) Surround yourself with people who love you. Even if it's only for an hour a day. At least then you don't feel so alone.

I hope i've helped :)

Hi try and write down your problems, it gets it off your chest, not good for you to bottle things up, helps keep things in perspective. Also please go to your doctor and ask to speak to a counseller, somebody outwith family and friends to speak to.

I also suffer with depression, I know it's not easy, I get that I can't face talking to people and shut myself away. (also a whole load of other stuff which I won't go into). Depression is absolutely horrible, Try Gingko Biloba, buy from pound shops and from Simply supplements, vitamins direct, (online) also I take Omega 3 which seems to help. I really do know what's it like and thought these suggestions might help you.

If you type into Yahoo or Google Ginkgo Biloba (Herbal Remedies for Depression) you will see that alot of people use it to take the edge off depression. I think I would be worse if I didn't take it.

I hope you feel better soon! Best Wishes, Claire

See your doctor!! I've been living with depression for 18 years now. With a few meds and tips from a psychologist, it has helped!
If you don't have access to that right now, just have a BIG cry and know that things WILL get better!! God NEVER puts more on you than you can handle!!
HUGS!!!
