I read somewhere that until you cross 18 years of age.. You should get atleast 8 hours of sleep.. Once you are above 18.. 6 hours is enough.. Btw i doubt any teenager sleeps for straight 8 hours..
There are various 'rules of thumb' but it varies. You should turn lights out by about 8:00 PM (that includes TV and computer, and go to bed early enough that you wake up rested and refreshed without an alarm clock.
9 hours is the recommended amount of sleep
10+ hours - he needs more then any time in his life.
