How do I get a full night's sleep and feel refreshed in the morning?!


Question: How do I get a full night's sleep and feel refreshed in the morning?
Two nights in a row I woke up in the middle of the night and went back to sleep two hours later. I'm not sure what's causing this to happen. I've been trying to eat less before I go to sleep. I also know my mind races a lot in the middle of the night. What can I do to feel more relaxed before i go to sleep and to get a good 8 hours?

I find that playing relaxing sounds at night, such as ocean waves or piano music, helps me sleep. It could be that the neighbor's dog barks or something like that is waking you up.

also, make sure your bedroom is really dark - even turn your clock away from me if it has a light on it.

exercise does help. then you are too tired to be having racing thoughts.

Ifyou are really having a lot of thoughts, it might be better to get up for a bit and jot down some notes (like what do ihave to do tomorrow? or other things you are thinking about) then you can relax and sleep.

avoid caffeine in afternoon. also, don't drink alcohol before bed, because when it wears off, you are going intowithdrawal and that can wake you up.

PS another tip I forgot is to only use your bedroom for sleeping or sex, if you're an adult. don't be using your computer, watching TV reading etc. You want to associate your bedroom with sleep.



make sure you exercise enough during the day
about an hour or so before bed take a warm relaxing bath using essential oils (lavender is good)

have a warm milky drink
write down any issues you may have in a journal
avoid caffeine for 6 hours before bed
do not eat to late and avoid sugary foods
