Question: Doesn't it seem pathetic that....?
human beings can't be alone. Take prison for example, you put someone in solitary for too long and they start to go loopy. There should be no reason to go crazy as you are safe in your solitary cell and are still getting your three meals a day which is more than a homeless person can say but for some reason, being isolated from other people for an extended period of time makes you unstable. You could ask these prisoners and 10 out of 10 times, they would rather be in the general population of fellow scumbag prisoners where they are in danger then safe in their solitary cells. I don't know but to me, it seems kind of weak and pathetic that us humans aren't mentally capable of being alone.

Who saids they can't? Your just assuming that but you don't know for a fact. I'm sure there are people out there that are perfectly capable of being isolated by themselves in this world.

I like being alone a good percent of the time but being by others is nice too.

I think it has to do with the evolution of mankind. Early man had to stay together in groups to survive. Those kind of instincts don't just go away. Evolution takes a long time to change things. But if you think about it, most mammals stay together in groups. Horses, wolf packs, elephants, even lions. Few mammals are solitary creatures. It is normal to want to be in the company of your own kind. There's nothing weak or pathetic about it. It's just the way we are. We as people need social interaction with others. Being in your cell 23 out of 24 hours a day, and exercising in isolation, doesn't provide any social interaction, no matter how many meals you get a day.

interesting point. i think that if a human was born and from the beginning was never dependant on another we wouldnt have a problem. since we are born and until a certain age we adapt to be dependant on the companionship of other humans. once that companionship is taken away or brains cant handle it because its too new. eventually, i think, a person will begin to fill what was once occupied by other humans with things they made up, fake companions because they cant handle the drastic change. thats just my thoughts though

im only a freshman so i really dont know
