Can your intelligent/creative mind be mistaken for mental illness?!

Question: Can your intelligent/creative mind be mistaken for mental illness?
Before I tout anything about intellect and myself, it's all self assessed. To say any of this is intelligence, is an assumption. I label it because this is what I would assume is creative thought and my analyzing it to be some form of intelligence:

I have very vivid images that are on the fly and very intense. I've had two inverted cones rotating counter to each other like an hour glass (on a vertical axis that starts rotating itself) I could feel myself falling into and almost riding the cones, I've had a biological engine (pretty much a mechanical engine of the flesh - more muscle and fat tissues than skin), random faces (gory or over exaggerated and "Sci-fi"). It doesn't take any forethought for things like this to happen.

Also, when I try to remember people's faces, I can get generalities but the face is mutated and horrible looking and scary if it were in person.

This all coalesces with moodiness. It as if my brain can't "shut off". I think deeply about things.

People I talk to tell me, "I have a mind up there". So, is it just having a mind up there that this goes with the territory?

I've been in therapy, the therapist said that what thoughts I do have are very similar to either LSD or "shrooms". I've never had those.

I'm just confused... as I have been for 2 years since my discharge from my military service.

Could I just have an "freelancer mind"? These thoughts are with the moodiness, depression, a lack of motivation, lack of concentration, and neglect of personal care.

Your answers will help me collect angles to view from. I will obviously take professional advice over a yahoo answers entry. I'm assuming some of you have dealt with or read on some fascinating facets of the mind and it helps me wager and narrow (or broaden) the focus.

Thanks for reading!

Why not go to PsychCentral.com and quiz yourself on ADD and Bipolar?

Anti-epileptic agents help "cool" your mind so you feel more confident, focused and able to organize your sleep. If your shrink gave you medicine for LSD, I suggest stopping them for a while as they may be the cause. You may also like to quiz yourself on psychotic disorder but with any anti-psychotic or LSD drugs already in place, the results may be misleading.

Your ADD mind needs thrills so why not watch thrill, horror and comedy movies? Once your ADD mind is thrilled & satisfied, you will feel better concentrated, focused and personal care. If ADD is possible, your mind (frontal lobe) is weak so keep away from manipulative people, dubious therapists and pressing yourself for what you find boring.

Some meditation and mental exercise to practice focus or "shut off" undesirable thoughts may also help and should give you temporary energy boost.
