Need advice on laxative abuse and the side effects?!

Question: Need advice on laxative abuse and the side effects?
About 2 years ago I had an eating disorder. I then started abusing laxatives, I had taking nearly 200 laxatives within 2 months then 4 months later I started having problems with my health....nausea, tummy aches, tightness in the chest, soreness from constantly burping, gas passing through my chest, if I dont release it I get this sharp pain like I'm having attack.....I don't know what damages laxatives can cause. I been to several doctors for the same problem with no luck(They did check my heart out and find nothing)....They've all seem to think I have gastritis or acid reflux or me having anxiety but I disagree.. For the gastritis and for the acid reflux they prescribed me prevacid and then for the other one I forget but they both didn't work...I'm not having anxiety cause this started happening after I took all those laxative.....I'm always in constant pain and i have a hard time sleeping now...I know I did this to myself but it's starting to take a tole on me can someone pls give me some of advice...

Answers:

in that quantity you not going to absorb vitamins, you flush a lot of the good bacteria out of your bowel vitB and without that you going to have alot of gastric problems.the burping and gas may be your bodies way of regaining health again.
maybe cut dairy out and just ride it out with no meds for week or so.your dr's did know about laxatives?.Different laxative work in different ways and if you took the ones that act on bowel muscle then give your body a chance to get into rhythm again, good luck and give yourself time

The same thing happened to me when I tried ge6ting high on random pills. I'm blind so it makes it more dangerous because I can't see what I'm taking. Ever since that day, I'm always nauteous and my stomach is bothering me whenever I eat.

200 laxatives over 2 months would not cause these problems. They are more likely to do with your eating disorder (purging) or your current diet. Something like omeprazole should help.

I'm a qualified mental health practitioner specialising in eating disorders

Laxatives can cause nerve damage. There's nothing you can do about it.
Try taking a digestive enzyme you can get at the health food store.
I would see a nutritionist.

aaww I feel out to you.
