How do you deal with mood swings and unstable moods?!

Question: How do you deal with mood swings and unstable moods?
ive been dealing with mental issues for 9 months, usually im pretty badly depressed or have a high level of anxiety (and i almost always want to cut) but sometimes i feel as far away from depressed as possible, as if im on top of the world; but worst of all are the times that my mood wont seem to stay for longer than a minute or so at a time, and thats when i feel the worst, it makes me feel unstable, as if im losing my mind. i havent been diagnosed with anything yet but all this makes me think i might be bipolar, and i get evaluated in a few days.

Answers:

Glad to hear your getting evaluated in a few days. You have already taken the first step in getting this under some sort of control and I'm proud of you for that.

I suffer from Bipolar, yeah you may have it, but only a phsyc can say for certain. How do you deal with the moods? Meds can lessen them somewhat, but you still have to deal. Knowing what mood your in, knowing your prone to doing certain crazy things, thinking before you speak, meditation all can help. It depends on what works for you, it's different for everyone. Getting a proper diagnosis is critical, then you can start to accept what you have and that is a big thing to move forward on.

i have what is called schizo-affective disorder which in some ways is similar . sounds to me it might be bipolar with rapid cycling ( that's when you moods changes very quickly),. go to the doctor and tell him EVERYTHING, if you are placed on meds take them even if you feel okay. find a therapist and talk and if you have a mental illness, you have an illness like any other and you are still an important member of society

This could be Bipolar Disorder. I Have Bipolar 1 and i know how it is to deal with the mood swings and anxiety attacks. It's not fun. You should really talk to your doctor and ask him if he can refer you to a psychiatrist.
Hope this helps!
